What We Offer

KWY provides Youth Coach/Practitioner support for Aboriginal young people participating in Mangrove Court in Port Augusta and Davenport. Mangrove Court is held at the Port Augusta Court and is designed to support young people through the court process in a culturally safe, therapeutic and strengths‑based way.

When a young person is referred to Mangrove Court, KWY may be engaged as their Youth Coach/Practitioner. Our practitioner works one‑on‑one with the young person throughout their time on Mangrove Court, explaining what’s happening, helping young people get ready for court, making sure young people feel confident to speak up for themselves and feel safe.

We help young people set goals, build everyday skills, stay connected to culture and family, and link in with school, training or work.

We work closely with Court Elders and Respected Persons, Aboriginal Youth Justice Officers and other services to ensure support is coordinated and centred on the young person’s wellbeing.

Eligibility

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children and young people who agree to participate in the Mangrove Court.
